DALTON BARBED
LATE TRANSITIONAL PALEO 11,000 BP THROUGH EARLY ARCHAIC 7,000 BP

This is an artistic representation of a late transitional Paleo point. Experts place it at 13,000 to 9,000 years old. Originally named in honor of Governor Dalton of Missouri, who collected and studied the entire series of Dalton points. No other point has as many variances as the Dalton, Daltons can be fluted or unfluted and bearing some form of serration. When these serrations become so deep they appear to be hooks or barbs they are then referred to as Dalton Barbed. Distribution ranges from the East Coast to the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf Coast to Canada.
