DOVETAIL
EARLY ARCHAIC 9500 BP TO 8,000 BP

This is an artistic representation of a Dove Tail. Dove tail is a term that describes the spreading shape of its base. Some experts interchange the terms Dove Tail and St. Charles. For the artist's sake, the Dove Tail tapers down from the base to the point. Most St. Charles points flare outward in the middle and curve off to the point making them distinctive from the typical Dove Tail. This point is found throughout the Midwest and Eastern states, especially in the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley.
