This is an artistic representation of a Sandia. Named for the Sandia Caves in New Mexico where an example was first identified. It is a controversial point, perhaps the most controversial in the New World. Mostly due to its rarity with only 70 documented examples found. While experts disagree, the carver of this representation believes that this is a legitimate point and that it represents a tie, chronologically, to the Old World as it has characteristics from points found in Southern France from the Solutrean Period. Some experts believe it is just a re-worked, broken Clovis, while others discount it due to the rarity of the finds. Most Archaeologists see accepting this as a legitimate point a threat to the Clovis Culture being the first culture of the New World.
