ST. CHARLES
EARLY ARCHAIC 9500 BP
This is an artistic representation of a St. Charles point. Named after St. Charles, Missouri, near St. Louis. Most experts interchange the St. Charles and Dovetail in the same class. However, there is a subtle difference. The St. Charles points flare outward in the middle and then curves off to the point. The Dovetail has a wide base and curves to the point. The St. Charles has been found throughout the midwest and Eastern States, the Ohio Valley and Tennessee Valley. The true St. Charles, most like the identified ideal, is found more East of the Mississippi.
