DALTON HEMPHILL
LATE TRANSITIONAL PALEO 11,000 BP THRU THE EARLY ARCHAIC 7,000 BP

This is an artistic representation of a late transitional Paleo point. Experts place it at 13,000 to 9,000 years old. Originally named in honor of Governor Dalton of Missouri, who collected and studied the entire series of Dalton points. No other point has as many variances as the Dalton. Dalton Hemphill can be fluted or unfluted. It resembles the shape of a Dalton Barbed without serrations. It is conceivable the Dalton Hemphill was the preform to the Dalton Barbed and the serration was never completed. Distribution ranges from the East Coast to the Rocky Mountains and the Gulf Coast to Canada.
