GERZEAN
EGYPTIAN PRE-HISTORY: GERZEAN TIME PERIOD 5400 BP TO 5100BP

This is an artistic representation of a Gerzean knife, a ripple flaked knife. One side has pressure flakes while the other side is highly polished and smooth. They appear around the time of the unification of Upper and Lower Egypt. It is believed to have been used in sacrificial rites. The process of making a Gerzean Knife is considered to many as the most difficult of all flint napping technology.
